Until several months ago, the only Asian makeup “gurus” that I could name were two that had been featured here before; Elessa, aka Pursebuzz, who actually works in the video game industry and does hair and makeup tutorials as a sideline and Michelle Phan, aka RiceBunny, who these days, occasionally does tutorials on how to become likenesses of pop icons such as Lady Gaga, Sailor Moon, Snow White, and (one of my personal favorites) a Tim Burton movie character (above).

After mentioning these ladies’ names to a professional makeup artist friend, she informed me that they are just two of the many Asian girls who have Youtube channels dedicated to hair, fashion, and makeup tutorials, and proceeded to name several more (included in this entry) right off hand.The following are just a few of the many Asian makeup gurus on Youtube. I’m not providing links to their channels because I doubt hair, fashion, and makeup vlogs are of particular interest to the readers here, but for those who are interested, a search for “Asian makeup guru” at Youtube will yield plenty of results.

Suzy, a 23 year-old Londoner, is a fashion design major and states “fashion is my passion.”

Debra Maye bills herself as “YouTube’s Canadian Singing Makeup Guru,” which is a deserving title since she’s good at both.

Teena Kim is a Cambodian-American who lives in Georgia by way of Tennessee and also does fashion modeling. Even though she lives in the Southern US, it still caught me off-guard to hear an Asian girl let a “y’all” slip out.

Wishing to remain anonymous, this makeup master took one of her tutorials to the extreme by demonstrating how to apply Kiss makeup as she transformed herself into the cutest Asian female version of Gene Simmons I’ve ever seen.

Although Aubrey has a couple of cosmetic companies as sponsors, she works as a licensed practical nurse.

Also wishing to remain anonymous, this 7/8 Chinese and 1/8 Burmese exotic-looking beauty showed off her over-the-top “Weeping Black Widow” makeup (another Tim Burton-inspired look) for one of her Halloween tutorials.

I noticed Catie is also quite a fan of other makeup gurus on Youtube, as I’ve caught her comments on almost all of the channels of the other ladies featured in this entry. With her assets, if she were a little less reserved, her channel would probably be among the most popular.

In addition to doing makeup tutorials, Cheri works on both sides of the camera as a photographer and a model, as shown in the two fairly recent photos below:

Spawned by the Popular Super Bowl halftime feature, the Lingerie Bowl, the Lingerie Football League had its inaugural season just last year. Having sexy, lingerie-clad players was probably thought to be the only way a womens football organization could survive, but these ladies aren’t merely eye candy in some powder puff league. In fact, some of the players even have semi-pro experience.

In the LFL, they play all-out, full-contact football for two 17-minute halves on an indoor arena-size field under arena-type rules. However, you’re not here to read about all that, so anyway….browsing the rosters of the 10 teams revealed a handful of Asian gridiron girls, most notably Korean-born G-N Kang (above), who plays center for the Philadelphia Passion. G-N’s “day job” is co-host of the “Chio in the Morning” radio show on Philly’s Wired 96.5 FM.

The other Korean-American girl in the LFL, who also happens to play for the Passion, is running back/cornerback Kimberley Wheat.

While I’d like to keep Yuko on the top of the page for longer, I had a topic I thought would be interesting to discuss and I decided to make a post on it while it is fresh on my mind. Much is often said in the comments about tattoos on Asian women. Some are for them, others are indifferent, and others are vehemently against them. So to promote further discussion, here are several questions for you to answer about tattoo designs on Asian women.1) Are you for, against, or indifferent towards tattoos?
2a) If you are against tattoos, are there certain tattoo designs and/or places on the body that are okay. If so, which ones?
2b) If you are for tattoos, are there certain tattoo designs and/or places on the body that tattoos are not okay. If so, which ones?
3) Do you think differently about the personality of a model that has a tattoo?
4) Do you think this different thinking (about the model’s personality) is the reason that you feel the way you do about tattoos?
4a) What do you think is the basis for your feelings about tattoos (where/when did it originate?)
5) Are you in favor of breast implants?
6) Do you feel it is hypocritical to be in favor of breast implants but against tattoos?

Twitter is a webservice that lets you check-in with what you are doing by text message, IM or over the web. It gained traction at SXSW 2007 and I’m a passionated user since then. While doing research about Asian Sirens on Twitter, I discovered a number of models on Twitter such as Lena Li, Natasha Yi, LuanaLani, Aiko Tanaka, Akira Lane, Francine Dee, and of course Tila Tequila.

I’m wondering who is using Twitter as well and which Asian models we definitely should follow. Anyone?

I was searching for new models and different websites to promote and I found these self taken photos from the Asian Teen Picture Club (whose name sounds too much like “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” for my liking). I realized I had a lot of fun reviewing SF Bay Models last month and wouldn’t mind doing more of those.
