Yoko Mitsuya in ‘On the Way’

Yoko Mitsuya

Yoko Mitsuya was born on 8 November 1984 in Tokyo (Japan) but moved to Saitama shortly after. She began practicing ballet as a first grader; her dream was to become a ballerina. When she was in sixth grade, she applied for the Horipro Talent Scout Caravan and was awarded a prize for her excellent work. From there, she made her debut in the photobook Baby Kiss.

Even though, Yoko was now aiming to become an actress, because of her large bust size for her age, she began doing gravure work at a steady pace. She had been in several publications and photobooks by the time she was 15, and was chosen as the Visual Queen of the year for 2000. Because of her bust size and overall body appearance, Yoko was considered chubby and this pressured her to crash diet when she was 16. As a result of this she lost not only centimeters from her chest, but her new size was a turn-off when wearing swimsuits.

Yoko made a comeback when she was 18 by wearing lingerie. This not only surprised her fans, it impressed them. Finally, Yoko got to become an actress with her first movie being 69 ~ Sixty Nine. In 2006 she will be starring in the movie Tokyo Daigaku Monogatari.

I just found some great photos of one of her last photobooks ‘On the Way’ (2004) at jphotobook.com. Enjoy it!

Sung Hi Lee the end of an era?

Search Trend based on Google

Website Statistics based on Alexa

Based on both Google Trends and Alexa Statistics it seems that the popularity of Sung Hi Lee is decreasing fast.

Google Trends gives an indication for the number of search queries in a period of time and based on the statistics for the past two years it’s obvious that less people are searching for Sung Hi Lee. In comparison, she is almost as popular as Hiromi Oshima nowadays. You will see two spikes in the graph for Hiromi and that is when she was featured in Playboy Magazine of June 2004 and Playboy’s Playmates in Bed of July 2005.

Inherently, the popularity of Sung Hi’s official website sung-hi.com is decreasing as well. Based on the Alexa stats her website is as popular as hiromioshima.com, the official website of Hiromi Oshima. Interesting to see is the popularity for Asian Sirens that reached its high point back in 2000, decreased in the years that we didn’t update the site anymore and is increasing again since the restart in July 2005.

It’s a pity for Sung Hi Lee but I truly think it is the end of an era and the big question is, will there be a successor of Sung Hi?

The Girls of Shrimpworld

The Girls of Shrimpworld

Inspired by the work of George Mann, I started my virtual journey to Thailand somewhere in 1996. George Mann is probably less known to most of the younger visitors. But since the day I discovered the sites Adult Asian (not online anymore) and Schrimpworld (with photography of Patrick Gauvain, better known as the infamous ‘Shrimp’ of Bangkok), I’m a fan of his work.

This week I talked with him and he told me that he is working hard on his website on digital photography where you can find, for example, an interesting Adobe Lightroom tutorial and eBook. As I’m an amateur photographer myself I’m sure I can learn a lot from his tutorials.
