I found this strange and colorful advertisement in the book Japanese Graphics Now. I wasn’t sure what is was supposed to mean, untill I found this on the web:Yoshie Watanabe was born in Yamaguchi. Belongs to DRAFT Co.,Ltd. She designed the advertisement of Mos Burger and Lacoste, and awarded for, JAGDA New Designer Award, Tokyo ADC Award, Hiromu Hara Award and NY ADC Gold Prize. As the main designer of D-BROS, she produces postcards and calendars which are popular and known for its unique design. She has been widening her working fields in the store development project of the cafe “caslon” and branding of the Wacoal underwear shop “une nana cool”.

My new desktop girl: Merina Vo

I found Merina Tram Vo (an immigrant from Vietnam, now living in Canada) on Flickr.com after Nik2 mentioned her in a comment on my Kyara Nguyen posting. There sure are some great photo’s on her pages! Check it out. (Do take your time, there are 1250! ;-)) She is on most of the pictures, so I wonder who is taking them… Some of the photo’s are quite ‘classy’ and Merina (as well as some other models) looks beautiful.

After I read her profile I am sure she doesn’t mind being featured on Asian-Sirens (and on my desktop). According to her it’s all about “Living Famously”. She even wrote an e-book about it: Get Your 15 Minutes of Fame: An 8-Step Roadmap to Living Famously. Well, here’s to you Merina! ;-)Her Gifts: “Creative, entrepreneur, leader and a natural life coach.”

As you know, I do not like blond hair on Asian women. But I was really attracted to the fact that this girl is half American Indian, half Korean. I have never talked about it openly (except here if you read carefully ;-)), but I do like the ‘native-American Indian’ look. And mixed with Korean blood, this is what you get! According to her MySpace, she is “25%American Indian 25%African American %50 Korean 100% FOB”. Well, that doesn’t make a lot of sense to me… :-\Some facts:
