Japanese gravure idol Rio Natsume

I felt bad after bumping Focus off of the main page, as she was the only nude model on the front. To make up for it, I am posting busty (but still non-nude, sorry to disappoint) Japanese gravure idol Rio Natsume (born on February 20, 1985). The video above shows the first scenes of her 2006 DVD entitled Erotica.Rio Natsume was born in Chiba Prefecture, Japan. She is known primarily for her very large (J-cup) breasts. Rio weighs 115 lbs and stands at a petite 5’1. Her purported measurements are 38-23-34 (or, in centimeters, 98-58-85).

Rio made her debut in 2002, and has since appeared in several DVDs and photobooks. In 2005, Rio was featured in the video game Gal of the Sparrow 2.

Angela Harry

Angela Harry

Angela Harry is a half-Korean, half-British model and actress, born in Fukuoka, Japan. She is mainly known for her portrayal of Jan Ors in the video game Star Wars: Jedi Knight – Dark Forces II, released in 1997.Aside from the video game character, the only information (and pictures) I could dig up about Angela Harry came from her writeup at goldsea.com.

According to goldsea.com, Angela was signed to Elite Model Management, a prestigious modeling agency that has managed names like Linda Evangelista, Heidi Klum, and Stephanie Seymour. She has been in print advertisements for Diet Coke and has modeled for L’Eggs Sheer Elegance pantyhose and Shiseido cosmetics.

Her career appears to have peaked sometime in the 1980s or 1990s, which, combined with insufficient celebrity, could explain why there was such scant information on her. IMDB.com lists her height as 5’10. The article from goldsea.com states that she was 18 years old in the early 1980s, which leads me to estimate that she is at least 40 years old now.

I do not know much about Angela, but I was struck by her glamorous looks while researching another Asian actress online. Perhaps one of our readers will have more info on her!

MTV News Correspondent SuChin Pak

SuChin Pak

30-year-old SuChin Pak (born August 15, 1976) is a MTV News correspondent. Joining the MTV News team in 2001, she became the first Asian face of MTV and has covered events like the MTV Video Music Awards, MTV Movie Awards, and the Sundance Film Festival.SuChin was born in Seoul, Korea and moved to Union City, California when she was five years old. She attended the University of California, Berkeley (GO BEARS!) and majored in political science while holding a job as the youngest television host for PBS’ “Newton’s Apple.”

SuChin has interviewed celebrities such as Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake, Diddy, George Lucas, Ice-T, Billy Idol, Mary J. Blige, and Britney Spears.

SuChin is more than “just” a television host, playing a huge role in MTV’s 2004 Choose or Lose campaign which urged young people in the U.S. to vote. She also contributed segments to coverage of the aftermath of September 11 for MTV News. In May 2004, her news series titled “My Life (Translated)” aired on MTV. “My Life (Translated)” examined the difficulties of growing up as a multicultural American kid, focusing a large part on her own life and her struggles in bridging gaps between standard Korean customs/culture and American ways.

In 2007, SuChin appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and talked about how she has struggled with beauty issues, in particular the standard Asian definitions of beauty. She mentioned her epicanthal folds (which result in the absence of eye creases in Asians), and explains why having an eye crease is an important facial feature to Asians. You can see a summary of her interview here.

Personal note: I grew up watching SuChin on TRL with Carson Daly! I think she is a great role model for young people. That she graduated from UC Berkeley while working a time-consuming television host job shows that she is hardworking, and a look at any of her interviews with celebrities will show that she is very charismatic and enthusiastic about her job. She always appears cheerful on television, and she is also using her name to promote good causes. She became successful off of her smarts, not her looks – even though I think she has both. Furthermore, I love her style!

Youki Kudoh and Jingchu Zhang in Rush Hour 3

image

Rush Hour 3, starring Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan, opened in theaters in the U.S. yesterday, August 10. Reviews in periodicals like The New York Times, Newsweek and Entertainment Weekly have all said the movie is a complete flop, describing the film as “grimly unfunny,” or overly reliant on recycled material.

In spite of the poor reviews, two things one can look forward to in Rush Hour 3 are Japanese actress Youki Kudoh (pictured above) and Chinese actress Zhang Jingchu. On Youki:

Youki last appeared in the films Memoirs of a Geisha as Pumpkin and in Snow Falling on Cedars as Hatsue Miyamoto. At 20-years-old, Youki received the Best Actress Award for her role in War and Youth, becoming the youngest person in her country to receive the award. This role also won her Best Actress awards from the Japan Film Critics, Hochi Film Festival, and the 34th Blue Ribbon Award.

On Zhang:

Zhang won the Best New Performer Award at the 11th China Broadcast, Film and TV Huabiao Awards for her role in Huayao Bride in Shangrila in 2005, and was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in 2006 for her role in Seven Swords. Recently TIME Asia Magazine has named her one of “Asia’s Heroes,” lauding her passion and zeal for acting. The article can be found here. Rush Hour 3 is Zhang’s first American movie.

In Rush Hour 3, Youki plays Jasmine (not quite sure what she does, but she starts throwing knives at Jackie Chan in the trailer) and Zhang Jingchu plays Soo Yung, the daughter of Consul Han who was murdered in Rush Hour. Below is the trailer for the movie, where you can see some clips of Youki, but unfortunately Zhang managed to not get featured:

Mika Nakashima

image

Mika Nakashima (born February 19, 1983) is a Japanese singer and actress.Mika rose to fame with her 2002 album TRUE. That year, she received the “New Artist of the Year” award at the Japan Gold Disc Awards, “Best New Artist of the Year” at the All Japan Request Awards, and “Best New Artist of the Year” at the 44th Japan Record Awards.

She starred in the 2005 movie Nana, which was adapted from the manga series of the same name. Mika played the role of Nana Osaki, an independent 20-year-old punk vocalist determined to become successful without the help of her ex-boyfriend Ren, who had been offered a position in an up-and-coming band.

Mika sang “Glamorous Sky,” one of the theme songs for the movie. This song became the best-selling single by a female artist that year.

I looked for a good music video of hers to post which would display her at her best (appearancewise), deciding on “Seppun,” below. I had a very hard time finding photos of Mika in which she is wearing tighter clothing (or she is posing in better lighting), which would explain why none of the pictures I’ve chosen to display below are very telling at all about her figure, but they are the best that I could dig up.

Nicole Scherzinger of The Pussycat Dolls

Nicole Scherzinger

Nicole Scherzinger (born June 19, 1978 in Honolulu, Hawaii) is the “Queen Doll” of the widely successful American girl group The Pussycat Dolls. She is half Filipina, half Hawaiian/Russian.Before being the frontwoman for The Pussycat Dolls, Nicole was in girl group Eden’s Crush. Eden’s Crush disbanded one year after their formation in 2001, but not before releasing a chart-topping single called “Get Over Yourself (Goodbye).”

Aside from The Pussycat Dolls, Nicole has been featured in the songs of several other notable artists – to name a few: T.I., Timbaland, and Diddy (formerly P. Diddy or Puff Daddy). She has also appeared in the movie Chasing Papi and some episodes of the television show “Sabrina: The Teenage Witch.”

Presently, Nicole is working on her solo career, with her debut album Her Name is Nicole coming out on October 16, 2007. You can listen to the single “Whatever U Like feat. T.I.” on her official website. I am not sure if she is leaving The Pussycat Dolls in order to spend more time on her solo work.

When I first saw Nicole in one of the music videos for The Pussycat Dolls, I initially thought that she was a Latina. You can see for yourself by watching the video for “Buttons” below, arguably the group’s most risque video yet:

P.S. Thank you, Asian-Sirens, for presenting me with the honor of being a poster. I hope that alongside the regular contributors, we can make A-S an even more comprehensive website to learn about the beautiful Asian women that are making lasting imprints in the entertainment business and elsewhere today. (Translation for the males: I hope I am doing a good job in periodically giving you topics for the special ‘conversations’ that go on between you and your right hand.)
