I-Ling has been featured here before, but I was a big fan back then, so I was pleased when I saw she also now had a portfolio available that will hopefully be updated soon with more recent work.

Besides being a model herself, Kasumi Shimizu is also the manager of the Los Angeles division for My Elite Models. Her talents include traditional Japanese dance and being quite skilled on the basketball court. I was impressed by her photos (like the one above from what was her first public shoot and “a lot of fun” she said), so I contacted her about an interview a couple of months ago. She graciously agreed then, but because of her busy schedule and final exams, she wasn’t able to get back to me until just recently.Standing a proud 5′ 3″, Kasumi tells me that she’s been playing basketball since she was a child. She also has formal dance training that includes ballet and tap but currently her main focus is on traditional Japanese dance or “nihon-buyo.” “In the next year or so, I hope to go to Japan to take the ‘nattori’ test for dancers who want to get their Masters,” she says.

Kasumi didn’t comment on the shoot this photo’s from, but she did say getting to it was quite an adventure. “It was before I had a car and it took seven buses to get there!” she explained.

On of her favorites. She said of this one; “The photographer was shooting from above me and I was on the ground. Since I was suppose to stay within the spotlight area I had very limited room to move. It was fun and I think it turned out great!”

Tall elegant beauty Luo Zi Lin will proudly wear the sash for the PRC at the Sao Paulo Miss Universe contest later this year. Zi Lin was selected Miss Universe China 2011 at Beijing’s Mastercard Arena on July 10th. She literally stood tall (being nearly 6 foot) while being crowned in the presence of 2007 Miss Universe Riyo Mori. Will she go on to trump the competition in Sao Paulo? Only ‘the Donald’ can say for sure.

The Jelly Girls are a fantastic group of Hong Kong based models.

Hong Kong’s answer to the Spice Girls?
Kinda, only these girls don’t sing…

and are 10 times better looking. More info and 1 hell of a great video lie for you after the jump.Despite being a fantastic concept, the Jelly Girls it seems specialized in turning up at tacky product promotional events, the sort of stuff that is par for the course with celebrities in China, but would be considered an embarrassing sell out for most people in the west.

Their website www.jellygirls.tv doesn’t seem to exist and they haven’t done anything new for a while. Their management company’s Website is even more mysterious.

I fear the worst for the Jelly girls. Have in-group ‘artistic differences’ taken their toll? Did management pull the plug due to low i-phone apps sales?

Maybe the true story will never be known.

What a shame, what a crying shame. At least we have some great videos to remember them by (see end of post).
