I’m sure the true Sung Hi Lee fans have already seen the movie but for those who missed it, I just found the movie trailer of the award winning movie Tripping Forward (2006) with Sung Hi Lee.Synopsis from the official site:

Tripping Forward is an off-beat, edgy comedy about two partying roommates in Hollywood that make the unfortunate mistake of selling drugs to supermodels to make ends meet.

While Ford (Chris Fogleman) struggles with the fact that his only success is in commercials and desperately tries to advance his career as a film actor, Tripp (William Gregory Lee) has given up on music in order to concentrate on drugs and sponging off of Ford.

When they run out of money, the boys must come up with some quick cash in order not to be evicted. Tripp finds the “perfect” solution: selling drugs to supermodels. Ford isn’t keen on the idea but acquiesces in order to pay the bills and so that he can to continue his acting classes with Gwen (Amber Benson), the girl of his dreams.

After a drug deal goes bad, Ford finds himself caught between his drugged-up idiot roommate and a mafia boss hell-bent on castrating him.

What did you guys think of the movie?

Robin mentioned the movie ‘Naked Weapon‘ (aka Chek law dak gung) before when he featured Maggie Q. I still haven’t seen the movie but I was impressed by the girl featured in the mashup video ‘No More Naked Conversation‘ I recently found at YouTube.

In my search for the name of this girl – I’m still not sure if it’s Maggie Q – I checked out the work of the other girls featured in this movie: Monica Lo Suk Yi, Anya Wu and Jewel Li Fei.

Naked Weapon tells the tale of a female assassin ring trained and operated by Madame M (Almen Wong). When her one-and-only assassin gets offed, she regroups by kidnapping the world’s most athletic and fight-ready young girls, and whisks them away to a private island. There, she subjects them to rigorous training over the course of six years. The girls are schooled in the arts of guns, computers, feminine wiles, and the requisite martial arts. Charlene (Maggie Q), Katt (Anya) and Jill (Jewel Lee) are among them, and the ensuing battle royale leaves them as the designated hitwomen for Madame M’s future business exploits. According to the various reviews it’s a terrible bad movie but the featured girls are hot.

Anya Wu

Anya Wu (aka Ng On-Nga) was born on February 17th, in 1976 in Taiwan. She moved to the United States, together with her family, by the age of 6. She was raised in New York City and there she also started her modeling career, that later on brought her back to Taiwan. When not modeling, Anya, both Fluent in Mandarin and English, was working as a DJ in a club. One evening she caught the attention of Golden Harvest, a film production, distribution and exhibition company, which cast her in her debut film ‘Born To Be King’.

Unfortunately I cou;dn’t find anything about Monica Lo Suk Yi (aka Monica Lo or Suk Yee Lo) other than that she was the winner of Miss Chinese Toronto 1996.

Jewel Li Fei

Also little information about Jewel Li Fei (aka Lee Fei, Lee Hang Chi or Jewel Lee). It seems she was a Miss Macau beauty pageant winner and billed by some as Michelle Yeoh’s successor.

Chinese-Canadian actress Sook-Yin Lee appears in the independent film, Shortbus. Now I’m sure we’ve all seen asian women in movies before, so what makes this different? Well, the actors in this film perform real sex.

No doubt most of us AS’ers have seen hundreds if not thousands of asian women in pornos, but seeing a mainstream actress like Sook-Yin Lee performing real sex on film is a rarity. For those not quite familiar with her, a quick check of her IMDB profile reveals a decently well rounded filmography, with roles in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, 3 Needles, the pilot episode of Sliders, and a stint as a VJ on the canadian music site Muchmusic.com. Trailer for the latest Ziyi Zhang movie The Banquet (here is a fanpage with loads of material!). I didn’t see the movie yet, but I guess I will soon enough.

Another great movie I recently saw was Little Miss Sunshine. In the latter part of the movie there was a girl that immediately grabbed my attention: Lauren Shiohama who portrayed Miss California. This was her first (small) movie role, before this she did some television and appeared on a gameshow (Deal or No Deal) in the US.I could not find any more information on her, but I am guessing she has Japanese blood, because of her surname. If anybody has some more info, feel free to comment.

Lauren graduated from the University of Southern California in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and a minor in Business Administration. Prior to pursuing modeling and acting full time, she had aspirations of a career in business. However, on the advice of a family friend, she decided to take a leap of faith and move to Los Angeles in hopes of pursuing her dream career in the entertainment industry.

Lauren recently made her feature film debut when she played “Miss California” in Jonathon Dayton and Valerie Faris’ “Little Miss Sunshine,” which received rave reviews at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. Additionally, she has done numerous print campaigns for companies such as Nike, Target, 24 Hour Fitness, Kohl’s Department Stores, Disney, New York New York Hotel and Casino, Best Buy, Shape Magazine, Cosmopolitan, and Glamour Magazine.

One of the best films I saw this year was Babel. One of the storylines takes place in Japan. A deaf-mute girl is struggling with her place in modern Japanese society.
