Japanorama – Sex

Japanorama – Sex – Part 1/3

Japanorama is a series of BBC documentaries presented by Jonathan Ross, exploring various facets of popular culture and trends of modern-day Japan.

Each episode of Japanorama has a theme, around which Jonathan Ross presents cultural phenomena, films, music, and art that exemplify facets of Japan. The series is colorful in both its creative use of subject matter, and its use of bright colors that helps accent the action on screen rather than distract from it.And of course there is an episode about Sex. I found the first two parts on YouTube.

Shooting Natalie

A “Behind the Scenes” of Natalie Mai, as she prepares for a shoot. It was shot by photographer Sol Lang and his wife. This is the first installment in a series of short films, chronicling some of his shooting sessions with models.

Sol Lang: “I wanted to bring across her great personality and joie de vivre, and she proved to be a great model and I couldn’t resist capturing a few images of her in the dressing room as she was preparing.”

Thailand: The world’s smallest porn star

image

In an exclusive interview, Asian Sex Gazette profiles a woman who hails from Udon Thani in Thailand’s Northeast, an area known as Isaan, but also known for its poverty, rice farming and beautful women that often constitute the majority of the girls working the bars in tourist haunts of Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket.

But she has a unique characteristic. This particular teenaged Isaan girl has, by choosing to work in pornography over bars and being a mere 134 cm (4’5″) tall and weighing only 32.9 kg (72.5 lbs), gained the title of ‘world’s smallest pornstar’. Full story here.

Malaysian beauty Amber Chia

Amber Chia

Amber Chia is one of the top models from Malaysia. A number of well-known companies have used Chia in their advertisements, including Sony, L’oreal, Mitsubishi, Samsung and Guess Watch. This has led critics to label her as overexposed, and suggestions that she show greater discretion when endorsing products.

Chia has also drawn fire by appearing in the Indonesian edition of Playboy Magazine. The photographs were non-nude, however, and Chia defends them as “tasteful, stylish and sensuous but not pornographic.” Her photos appeared in the “Celebrity” section of the magazine. One of her most defining features is her pouty lips, which are not typically found in ethnic Chinese Malaysians.

Some facts:

Date of birth: December 14, 1981
Place of birth: Ipoh, Malaysia
Ethnicity: Chinese
Nationality: Malaysian
Height: 5 ft 8 in (175 cm)
Weight: 110 lbs (50 kg)
Measurements: 32 – 25 – 35
Hair color: brown
Eye color: brown

The people of Burma need our help…

Burmese woman. Photo by Eric Lafforgue

The only (part)Burmese model we ever featured is Flo Jalin. And although Asian-Sirens isn’t a political blog and this post might seem off-topic, I strongly feel I should mention the current situation in Burma.

After decades of military dictatorship, the people of Burma (Myanmar) are rising – and they need all the help they can get. Marches begun by Buddhist monks and nuns have snowballed, bringing hundreds of thousands to the streets.

When the Burmese last marched in 1988, the military massacred thousands. But if the world stands up and supports their struggle, this time they could succeed. Show your solidarity to this movement for peace and democracy and sign the emergency petition supporting the Burmese people. It’ll be delivered to UN Security Council members and the UN press corps all week.
