Mika Tan as shown above was the porn star feature August 18-20 at the Crazy Horse strip club in San Francisco. They came up with the theme Asian Invasian for the month of August where they featured solely Asian porn stars. Crazy Horse once had a reputation for hiring mostly Asian dancers and featuring Asian porn stars.

Back to the subject of Mika Tan, I have had the pleasure of meeting her at both Asian Sirens Expos and always found her to be one of the most engaging and entertaining ladies I met at those shows. At the first Asian Sirens Expo, she did an impromptu topless photoshoot in the VIP area upstairs and was also provocatively posing with fans placing their hands on her boobs (while wearing a t-shirt) and such. Do Thi Hai Yen: the love of a quiet American

In 2003 I saw The Quiet American. A movie about early US involvement in Vietnam. But also a movie about love. The love of two men (one American, one British) for a Vietnamese woman. Though I didn’t think the movie was a masterpiece, lately it has been in my mind a lot. (Probably because I think about Vietnam all the time nowadays! ;-)) While doing some research, I found out it was the first major Hollywood film to be shot in Vietnam (most other American Vietnam movies were shot in the Philippines) and Vietnam has welcomed The Quiet American as an accurate portrayal of early US involvement in Indochina.

Do Thi Hai Yen plays the Vietnamese girl that has to choose between the two western men who both love her. I really tried do find out more about her on the web, but there is little to find. I could not even find a birthdate.She played in two other films before The Quiet America (Song of the Stork and At the Height of Summer), but did not make any film after it. If anybody has news about this Vietnamese beauty, feel free to post it in the comments.

I just got an e-mail from the Island Eyes Yahoo Group announcing that their 10 year anniversary 2006 calendar is now available for pre-ordering at the 2006 calendar page of islandeyes.com.

The cover model is Kristine Enrile (click on her name for a free nude photo gallery of her). I couldn’t find much info about her from a google search.The other Asian/Filipina models featured in the calendar are:

Speaking of sirens, Faye Wong is primarily known for her singing but I was very impressed with her acting in Wong Kar Wai’s Chungking Express. She is back on the silver screen again in Wong Kar Wai’s latest film 2046 which is where the above photo of her came from. She plays two roles in the film one of which is a fictional android character in the year 2046.

Faye Wong was born in Beijing. Her mother was a singer of “artistic traditonal songs” and her father is a Teresa Teng fan. Her family’s love of music influenced her growth towards that direction. She began voice training for 5 years during high school. After graduating high school, she started modeling for China Airlines but music was her first love or so she thought then.At the age of 18, she went to Hong Kong by herself in order to become a pop singer, participated in many auditions, and then signed a contract with Cinepoly. She debuted as a “Shirley Wong” called “A girl from North”, but she didn’t have the success she envisioned in her debut album “Shirley”. She had always wanted to see America and took an opportunity to study abroad. She studied music at Atlanta college in New York City then she came back to Hong Kong to record “Coming Home”. In 1992, “A broken-hearted woman” from that album was a smash hit and she became one of the greatest female pop stars in Hong Kong.

Afterwards, she continued her sucessful rise in the Asian music industry and became a role model for young Chinese girls everywhere dreaming to become musicians in their own right. She sold out her Circle Concert (180,000 tickets) in Hong Kong, America and Canada proving her overwhelming popularity worldwide. One of her more recent achievements is her “eyes on me” song that was a hit from the Final Fantasy VIII game further increasing her popularity and recognition.
