Devon Aoki

Devon Aoki

While her first major film credit (2 Fast 2 Furious) may have been a shocker, she also stars in the great new hit film Sin City (in a very sexy role). Devon Aoki (she doesn’t seem to have an official site) is also probably the number one Asian fashion model in the world right now. Although she appears have had a fair bit of facial surgery, I still think she’s pretty cute!

Probably the number one Devon Aoki fan site is Devolution.

  1. Speaking of Sin City, am I the only one who thinks Jessica Alba looks Filipina?

    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004695/

Although she actually doesn’t have a drop of Asian blood (apparently she’s a mixture of French, Danish, Mexican, Indian and Spanish!), I think she’s hot (at least when she doesn’t bleach her hair)!

  2. I saw Sin City, and didn’t even notice Devon Aoki was Asian! I thought she had ‘Asian style’ make-up or something! What is her ethnic heritage? I am not really sure if I like her… Maybe it’s the blond hair… dunno.

And for Jessica Alba, I agree! Yesterday I saw some pics of her, and thought: hey, this woman might have some Asian blood! Look at this photo for example. But now I know I was wrong.

  3. Devon’s another mixture – mostly Japanese (hence the surname), but also English and German. She would look a lot more Asian were it not for the surgery.

Although she isn’t actually Asian, I say we should do a post on Jessica – I think she’s one of the hottest Asian-looking women around right now. What do you and Marco think?

  4. Ah, foolish of me, the surname does indeed sound Japanese! What surgery has she had?

I disagree. I think featured models at this site should have an ethnic background of at least 25% Asian. (Or is that a bit racist? ;-))

And this was also the Model search definiton on the old site.

  5. Devon’s obviously had a nose job and chin job, and she may have had some work done to her eyes as well. None of this is very unusual these days, especially (sadly) for Asian models.

Regarding Marco’s rules, he did break them at least once that I can remember (for busty Brigitte).

  6. Do you not consider Indian to be Asian? Unless perhaps, they meant Native American Indian but that is typically referred to as Native American to avoid confusion.

As far as Devon Aoki, she is half Japanese and her father is Rocky Aoki, the owner of a popular chain of Japanese restaurants called Benihana. I believe her mother who is caucasian was some sort of celebrity as I recall.

Has she done any nude photos lately? I remember posting some in my Asian Divas Yahoo Group when I first learned of her. I just checked and they are still there under Nudes and then Models.

  7. Well, India is part of Asia, and therefore Indian models sure qualify for this site!(Although I prefer South-East Asian beauties just a bit more ;-))

But I thought Lee ment Indian as North/South American Indian. (especially because there was Spanish blood involved and we all know that part of history ;-))

Here in Holland we fortunately have two different words: Indiaas (for people from India) and Indiaans (for the native Americans).

As for Devon Aki: Devon Edwenna Aoki is the daughter of Japanese Olympic wrestler and Benihana steakhouse magnate Rocky Aoki and Anglo-Bavarian jewelry designer Pamela Hilburger.

  8. As mentioned by badboy, if Jessica Alba has some Indian blood we definitely should feature her on Asian Sirens!

And Lee has right, I did a non-Asian in the past as well. I don’t have a problem with it as long as we don’t over do it and she isn’t natural blonde πŸ˜‰

Is it just me or is the site damn slow tonight? Too much traffic from Fleshbot?

  9. Yes I agree. Indian (from INDIA!) is fine by me. But Indian (from native American -or Inca, Maya, Aztec and Toltec related- is not fine by me). I think we should keep it al least 25% Asian. Or else we must change the title and character of the site to Exotic-sirens.com! πŸ˜‰

  10. I asumed they meant Indian (as in native American) too, but I’ll look into this.

For me women from India look far too different from oriental women to be lumped into the same group, and have very different heritage.

On the other hand, I think native American women often look very oriental, and I strongly suspect they have common heritage at some point in history. At the very least, they probably share a comon heritage with Filipinas (who I believe are from Polynesian stock), as opposed to the mainstream Asiatic (Chinese) stock.

Hence, I think the best definition to use for inclusion in Asian Sirens is ‘oriental looking’, and in effect this is the definition Marco has always used in the past.

  11. Besides, as I say I above it could be argued that native Americans have just as much right to be called Asians as Filipinas, given their likely common heritage. So maybe it is in the blood! πŸ˜‰

  12. AΒ·sian
    adj.

Of or relating to Asia or its peoples, languages, or cultures.

    n.
    1. A native or inhabitant of Asia.
    2. A person of Asian descent.
Usage Note: Asia is the largest of the continents with more than half the world’s population. Though strictly speaking all of its inhabitants are Asians, in practice this term is applied almost exclusively to the peoples of East, Southeast, and South Asia as opposed to those of Southwest Asia such as Arabs, Turks, Iranians, and Kurdswho are more usually designated Middle or Near Easterners. Indonesians and Filipinos are properly termed Asian, since their island groups are considered part of the Asian continent, but not the Melanesians, Micronesians, and Polynesians of the central and southern Pacific, who are now often referred to collectively as Pacific Islanders. See Usage Note at Oriental.

    and

    Asian

    adj
1: of or relating to or characteristic of Asia or the peoples of Asia or their languages or culture; “Asian countries” [syn: Asian, Asiatic] 2: denoting or characteristic of the biogeographic region including southern Asia and the Malay Archipelago as far as the Philippines and Borneo and Java; “Oriental politeness”; “for people of South and East Asian ancestry the term `Asian’ is preferred to `Oriental'”; “Asian ancestry” [syn: Asian, oriental] n : a native or inhabitant of Asia

  13. 2. a person of Asian descent.

While it is of course impossible to prove that native Americans qualify under this definition, they sure do look it! πŸ™‚

  14. gosh, i love this girl’s face. it’s so unique!!! πŸ˜› when i was younger i wish i looked like devon

i’ve met her brother, steve aoki (famous dj), at a concert. he’s pretty nice, but i didn’t want to weird him out by telling him i thought his sister was HAHA. the two look alike

  15. I have always thought, and I don’t have any backup to support my views, Native Americans were originally Asians…

  16. As I say above, it seems likely that American Indians have Polynesian heritage, as do many people we call “Asian” (e.g. Filipinas, Hawaiians). Hence, native Americans may indeed have a common heritage with many of the people we now call Asian.

  17. Devon is half Japanese and half English/German. Her dad is Rocki Aoki, the founder of Benihana. She has been modeling since the age of 13, she was born with that face. Basically you can see pics of her from child to adult with the same face. sdrater

  18. I liked her in 2Fast2Furious, but even more in SinCity. Too bad I haven’t seen more of her lately, but she will be in Sin City part 2.

She’s beautiful while not having a conventional beauty. That’s how I put it.

  19. She always has had basically the same face, but it seems clear to me that she’s had work done regardless (which of course is nothing unusual these days for models) – I find it very hard to believe her chin is natural, for example.
