Cecilia Cheung

Cecilia Cheung

After my last two posts on Hong Kong idols, I felt I just had to do a post on my personal favourite of the current bunch: Cecilia Cheung. Although largely unknown in the west, she is easily one of the top ten Chinese idols at the moment, and for my money definitely the prettiest: to me she looks something like an Asian version of Audrey Hepburn – high praise indeed! She also has a lovely trim and slender body, as can be seen in the photo below:
Cecilia Cheung

Indeed, she can be a little too slender at times – like many of the current Chinese idols such as Kelly Chen and Faye Wong, she is prone to bouts of anorexia. Clearly it isn’t any easier being an idol in the east than it is in the west!

Born in Hong Kong, she is one quarter white and went to high school in Melbourne, Australia (unfortunately I was in Sydney at the time – damn!). After returning to Hong Kong, she got her big break when in 1999, when she starred in the Stephen Chow film, The King of Comedy. Since then, she’s appeared in well over 20 other films, of the usual highly variable quality of Hong Kong cinema.

I’ve only actually seen one of her films, the comedy The Lion Roars. Like most HK comedies it’s pretty silly, but in a good way – quite a lot of fun! Cecilia is outstanding as a tough, sexy, domineering girl who only one man can handle – I really find this kind of woman very attractive, and Cecilia clearly knows how to play one. 😉 And although she can’t really belly dance, the sight of her in a belly dance costume was very sexy indeed! (Those of you who know me will note some parallels between this character and a certain model I do a web site for…)

Although known mostly as an actress, she also has a succesful singing career, having released several albums. The real surprise though is that she has a really beautiful singing voice, and great emotional expression. Although I’ve never actually heard any of her recorded works, I have seen her performing live, and was bowled over by her singing ability. A whole lot better than I’ve come to expect from Hong Kong idols! On the basis of past experience though, I strongly suspect her recorded works wouldn’t be as good as she is live, especially if they make her sing that modern dance pop stuff. If anybody can track down some MP3s please let me know!

Given her relatively low profile in the west, there isn’t a whole lot of English language material on the web. By far the best fan site I’ve found is ceciliacheung.us. Be warned, however: they say they’re looking for a web designer, and they certainly need one! They do have plenty of pictures though.

[A Message For Our Indonesian Friends (in Indonesian)]

Tiara Lestar (aka Amara) is definitely the most discussed model on Asian Sirens at the moment. After her appearance in Dutch Penthouse, Spanisch Playboy and Adam Yurman’s Pacific USA Calendar, a lot of Indonesian people found their way to Asian Sirens. Most of them came here for the pictures but some started to bash her. Reason for us to remove the Indonesian comments.

Yesterday we received an email from Tiara that she has launched her own blog at tiaralestari.blogspot.com. We are still not sure if it is really Tiara behind the blog but on the other hand we definitely support her and enjoyed the new pictures at the blog so check it out yourself!

Mongolian bongo pics

Mongolian bongo

I can’t read Russian so can’t write much about this page full of pictures of naked Mongolian ladies posing outside in what looks like very cold weather. If anyone reads Russian, maybe they can provide a translation. Unfortunately, the page doesn’t come up with pictures if you run it through the web based language translators and I believe most people here would be more interested in the pics anyway.

I noticed that there hasn’t been a lot of nudity on Asian Sirens lately so figured it was a good time to post this.

I will leave you with another photo which links to the source of these photos:

Christy Chung

Christy Chung

In my post yesterday, I mentioned that Coco Lee was voted the 47th sexiest woman in Asia by FHM magazine in 2000. So who was number one? Hong Kong actress Christy Chung.

Born in Montreal, Canada to Vietnamese parents of Chinese descent, her native language is actually French, although she also speaks English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Vietnamese(!). She first came to prominence when she won the Miss Chinese International Pageant in 1993.I recently became aware of this actress myself from her role in the absolutely brilliant art house film Samsara. If you haven’t seen this film then I highly recommend that you do (unless you’re only into Hollywood blockbusters), as it a bona fide masterpiece. It is a truly beautiful and often very sensual film, and Christy’s performance compliments it perfectly – the main sex scene featuring Christy is by far the most beautiful I’ve ever seen.

Although she has appeared in nearly 30 films, I can’t say any of the others are of the same quality. Still, she’s never afraid to take her clothes off! She’s also released one (sadly out of print) photo album – together with an accompanying DVD (still available) – entitled “Feel…”, shot on a remote island in Thailand. This is a truly classy and artistic piece of work.

Interestingly, I don’t find her exceptionally pretty, but she has a real inner beauty that is truly captivating. She also really knows how to be sexy, as evidenced by the aforementioned sex scene and these photos (mostly taken from Feel…). The best fan site I’ve found is Totally Christy Chung, which features links to several videos from around the net. There’s plenty of pics too, but they can be hard to find.

Coco Lee and Asian Facial Surgery

Coco Lee

Since before my previous post on breast surgery, many people here have noted my comments on the facial surgery many of the models featured here have had, and wanted me to do a post on this phenomonon. Well finally here it is!

My post has been held up by my desire to find some good before and after pics to demonstrate this phenomonon. Well I’ve finally managed to find such pics of perhaps the most internationally successful oriental singer ever: Coco Lee. Amazingly, Coco claims to never have had any surgery! (This is a good example of how you can’t believe Asian models/performers when they say their natural.) I will discuss Coco herself a little more below, but first lets analyze the before and after pics above. The bottom two pics are Coco as she is today, whereas the top two were taken before she had any surgery. Perhaps the most obvious – and for me most tragic – difference is her slilicone chin implant. As can be seen, she always had a fairly prominent chin by Asian standards, but in her desire to look more western, she has made it even more so. So much so in fact that to me it now looks kind of ‘stuck on’. (Still, at least it doesn’t look as ridiculous as Reese Witherspoon’s chin implant – for me her chin looks like it belongs on a witch!). Sadly, this form of surgery is now very common for Asian models and performers, although because most other Asian girls don’t have a chin as naturally prominent as Coco’s, the result isn’t usually this exagerated.

The other obvious thing that can be seen is how different her eyes look. She has reshaped her eyebrows by removing her natural eyebrow hairs and replacing them with tattoos. Less obviously, she has also had some of the fat removed from her eyelids, which once again makes her eyes look a little less classically Asian and perhaps a little bigger. Once again, these procedures are very common for Asian models and performers these days, although in this case the results are actually a lot more subtle than many others and IMHO are quite successful.

Coco Lee

What can’t be readily seen from these photos is her nose job. Unlike many other Asian models/performers thse days, she doesn’t seem to have done anything to enlarge her nostrils, so from the front her nose looks pretty much the same as it always has. However, if you could see before and after profile shots (which unfortunately I couldn’t find), you would see that she has had a silicone implant inserted in the bridge of her nose, to make it higher (and once again more western). I find it ironic that so many western women have surgery to make their noses smaller, whereas Asian women have surgery to make them bigger! What a strange world…

Whether you like Coco’s facial surgery or not, it certainly hasn’t hurt her careeer! As stated above, she is probably the most internationally successful oriental singer ever. Indeed, she’s the only oriental singer I can think of who has really broken into the western market (unless you include half Chinese singer Bic Runga, who is very successful in Australia and New Zealand) – somebody please correct me if I’m forgeting someone! She got her big breakthrough in the US by performing “A Love Before Time”, the theme song from the huge hit Chinese film Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. She performed this song at the oscars that year, which makes her the first and so far only oriental singer to have performed at the Oscars, as far as I’m aware.

Although her music isn’t exactly my taste (the usual modern dance pop, although she’s released some pretty nice stuff in her home market), she is actually a very capable singer (she has quite a lovely voice), and is a pretty talented dancer and performer. She also has a nice, trim body, which she really knows how to show off – although I can’t stand her chin job, I still find her quite sexy!

She was born in Hong Kong, but she moved to the US with her family when she was only 10. It was there that she won the Miss Chinese America pageant in 1991 – this was before she had all the surgery! Two years later she returned to HK to take second prize in the New Talent Singing Contest there, which resulted in her recording contract. She also came 47th in Maxim magazine’s “Top 100 Sexiest Women in Asia” in 2000. Anyway, here’s some more pics so you can make up your own mind about her:
