The article insinuates that the Asian wives are victims of white male fantasy. That is the angle basically. I think the author has written this with the idea of white female acceptance in mind (subconciously). Am I right in thinking that the author is Asian-American?

Class, manners, and culture are not “a fetish thing”, Ms. Nguyen, they are something lacking in American women of all education and body-types.
As for C.N. Le of the University of Massachusetts, that is exactly the drivel from your department I recall when I went there, which was always followed by angry letters to the Daily Collegian from Asian women. One such woman demanded to know what right your group has to claim that she, as a free individual, must not dream of American sailors?
Let me guess… she should instead be dreaming of butch d*kes… if she really knows what is good for for!
Everyone has a preference, it doesn’t mean they always stick to it and it’s as much a fetish as a guy liking blondes or a woman liking tall men.

We’ll know racism is finally dead when people stop talking about – or even noticing – this sort of thing. I think the only real trend this article documents is that Asian women are becoming more and popular all the time, and more socially acceptable partners.
Doc, I totally agree with you. Not to mention that the “trend” storyline is a staple of journalism, and it doesn’t matter if the trend really exists or not. Or, to put another way, that’s 8 couples out of how many rich and famous total?
The term “Trophy Wife” is kind of an oxymoron in my estimation. A wife is a wife. No matter how hot they are, sooner or later they are going to give you a hard time. I would prefer a trophy gf that is replaceable upon whim, without too much of a fuss. Variety is nice and Asian is alway high on the preference list. If woman are prizes for success, I want to win more than one contest.

And I totally agree with redlaw. A trophy wife can give you a hard time (even a non-trophy can!) so just get a trophy gf and avoid the hassles.
Perhaps these guys just have a ‘thing’ for asian women, just like we do here. If you can get your asian dream girl and she is a trophy too (meaning hot and envy-generator), go for it.
I got mine, and couldn’t be happier! Of course, she’d laugh and kick my butt if I EVER referred to her as a trophy wife, which is a ridiculous term of derision, usually thrown about by jealous ex-wives, or men who wish they were so lucky.

Talk about being late to the party. Lots of celebs in Hollywood were dating asians before Woody Allen. Famous people date beautiful asian women for the same reason regular guys do, because the’re hot and often smart. I suppose you could call it a fetish, but it’s not really any different than my friends who happen to like blondes. Really a pretty dumb article and way behind the times. There have been mixed couples for generations now, we can all stop talking about it now (not you guys, society in general).

I don’t think so. I think the Asian Trophy wife thing came and went.
Probably it started when Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (Zhang ZiYi and Michelle Yeoh ) came out and was followed by more and more Chinese movies and key roles in movies and TV shows being filled with Asian females (Grey’s Anatomy, for example)
But I think its receeded.
I think Indian women are starting to share equal billing do to the surge of Bollywood films (and yes I know Indian women are Asian)
But ultimately this county place emphasis on White Women so they are gonna continue to be #1.
Racism isn’t going to die for another 100 years.
In 50 years America will be a plurality and in 100, America is going to be so globalist that it isn’t gonna matter anymore.

Asian women are not that far behind, but the reason for this is that White American women are near the front of the race to be the most ICE COLD.
