Body Painting

A model parades a body painting artwork named “Dragon,” which costs 12 hours to get finished, at the “MAC (Make-up Art Cosmetics, an US-based brand name) Body Painting Cheong-sam Spectacular” held in Shanghai Toronto Art Gallery on October 28, 2005. Some 23 body painting artists from countries and regions aroud the world such as Australia, Canada, South Korea and so on, gives an on-spot improvisational design and painting on models.

Yesterday this huge advertisement attracted my attention. (can you blame me?! ;-)) I believe it was a series of three. There wasn’t a lot of time, so I forgot the first one, but the second had something to do with food and had a cup of Noodles on it. This one was about skin. The dragon tattoo looks a bit like the one Magdalena ‘Spike’ has on her back 🙂

Anyone knows what this campaign is about? And who the model is?

I found this strange and colorful advertisement in the book Japanese Graphics Now. I wasn’t sure what is was supposed to mean, untill I found this on the web:Yoshie Watanabe was born in Yamaguchi. Belongs to DRAFT Co.,Ltd. She designed the advertisement of Mos Burger and Lacoste, and awarded for, JAGDA New Designer Award, Tokyo ADC Award, Hiromu Hara Award and NY ADC Gold Prize. As the main designer of D-BROS, she produces postcards and calendars which are popular and known for its unique design. She has been widening her working fields in the store development project of the cafe “caslon” and branding of the Wacoal underwear shop “une nana cool”.
