This post about the Chinese ladies taking up pole dancing reminded me of another form of dance not rooted in the Far East, that’s become popular there.
Belly dancing was introduced in Korea in the mid-90s by Ahn Yoo-jin (39) shortly after she had begun studying it in New Zealand. Yoo-jin (also know by her English name of Xena) also founded the Belly Korea Academy in 1995, according to the site but I actually remember first reading about her in this article from the Korea Herald in 2001, in which the dates given don’t seem to jive.You-jin/Xena has appeared numerous times on Korean network television, is the only Korean belly dancer to hold a license from the Istanbul Total Dance Academy and has taught dance classes at several top universities in Korea.
Since a simple Google search of her name will turn up many results regarding her using a fake degree from a university in Australia, in order to land a job teaching dance at a prestigious women’s university in Korea; here you go….but that or any other article on the subject will just tell you pretty much the same thing that I already did. Anyway, so what if she did get caught passing off a phony diploma? It doesn’t mean that she’s not qualified to teach her art to others….she just took a little short cut in doing so.
Love love looove how she re-adapted her body for the curvier “bellydancer ” look.Probably was’nt a bad night if you wake up next to her.
She looks like a man
she not curvy just big in the middle..leave the belly dancing to the arabs and turks..
This kind of dance can be found easily in almost all of Indian movies.
pretty milf face 🙂 big belly:)
What must this girl eat if she dances all day and is still that thick?? Thats incredible.
A few years ago, they had belly dancers at a Lollapalooza concert I went to. The way those girls danced was one of the sexiest things I’ve ever seen. They could control each muscle of their midsection and could gyrate each section of their body with a different movement/rhythm at the same time. They didn’t have any asians, but the girls were really hot.
im sorry to be offensive but these girls need to get some work-out going on. They could look way sexier than this. But I have to agree, I’d love to go watch these girls live…
She’s boxy but cute. I doubt she’s taller than 5’0.
Still, I wanna see her bellydance to hip-hop.
“another form of dance not rooted in Asia”
Isn’t it rooted in the Middle East (or at least Turkey), which is still part of Asia (except for Turkey, which is mostly part of Asia)? It’s not the far-east “oriental” Asia that one thinks of when thinking of “Asia,” but it’s still there. Even Siberian Russians are Asian. 😉
As for her thickness, keep in mind that it looks like she’s wearing a body stocking connecting the upper and lower parts of her outfits. I don’t think she looks terrible, but she’s not my taste.
@Quantum Force: Even thought I’m sure you knew what I was referring to, I edited to clarify.
“I doubt she is taller than 5’0,” actually Korean women are pretty tall-er than the rest..she is not Filipina haha I joke I joke.
Turkey is located in the Eurisian area, but it being a part of the EU in the near future will make it a European nation. Like Egypt, an area mostly in Africa but considered a middle eastern country.
Her belly button is weird =s [idk how else to put it], hence the body stocking, probably from children. But it is her dancing that is to be judged and ehhh it is not too particularly good..
