Vivian Wu

Leonard (one of our readers) was surprised to find out that we did not have Vivian Wu on our site. He says: “She’s a beautiful, versatile, and accomplished actress. In “Pillow Book” she was a daring literary pleasure seeker who loved deeply and obsessively pursued her erotic fantasies. In “Kinamand” she was a heart-breaking tragic figure. She is fantastic and deserves an entry!”

People magazine agrees. She was chosen as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the world in 1990. So Leonard, here she is! :-)Vivian Wu was born in Shanghai, China, in 1966 as Wu Jun Mei. She started acting at age 15 with the Shanghai Film Studio, and then later studied Travel Industry Management at Hawaii’s Pacific University. After that she played ‘Wen Hsiu’ in the Oscar-winning The Last Emperor (1987) directed by Bernardo Bertolucci. In 1993 Vivian was cast by directer Oliver Stone in Heaven & Earth (1993) and The Joy Luck Club (1993). Since then she has been working constantly in film and television and was cast by directer Peter Greenaway in 8 ½ Women (1999) and The Pillow Book (1996), in which she starred alongside Ewan McGregor. Vivian also played Soong May-ling in the hit film Song jia huang chao (1997) (IMDB)

  1. She’s pretty, but she has NO boobs! Do a search on AskTiava.com and you’ll see what I mean.

  2. Hmmm…puzzled by the lukewarm reactions. She’s always been one of my favorites. “Kinamand” was only two years ago, not ancient history. We’ve featured other actresses of her age whose best work was 10-15 years ago, such as Maggie Cheung. Does that matter?

No boobs? Really? Yes they are small while certainly not flat-chested, but, um, this site is dedicated to Asian women, most of whom have a natural state that tends to be relatively small. Last time I checked, the site wasn’t called “Big-uns”. Have we become so fixated upon huge fake knockers that we can’t appreciate the beauty of all sizes?

  3. I’m with you, luvjgirls. A classic beauty, like this, is always in style, if you ask me.

  4. I agree guys. She is a classic beauty. She was fantastic in “The Pillow Book”.
Keep the breasts natural !!! Elasticity NOT
    SIZE matters !!!!!

  5. I remember a comment I posted on Asian Sirens a really long time ago in which I gushed about Vivian Wu in Pillow Book and Last Emperor. It’s great to see a post about her. I agree, her style never goes out of style.

  6. Hey, I like all sizes of boobs and sometimes the perky ones best of all and if in my wildest dreams i was single and had a chance with her, I would JUMP! When I met my wife, before the babies and breastfeeding she was very small boobed (hope that wasn’t t too much information). I was just pointing out that Vivian is very flat-chested. Check out this to see what I mean:

  7. Nice to see them, but did she decide to blow off studying for a test or something? It looks like she’s covered in crib notes.

  8. It’s from Pillow Book. Can’t explain. You gotta see it! She’s naked in half the movie.

I plan on seeing her in 8 1/2 Women and The Soong Sisters, the latter being about sisters who married Chiang Kai Shek and Sun Yet Sen, co-starring Michelle Yeoh and Maggie Cheung (triple yum!)

  9. She’s great, better than the Japanese women so prominently featured on this site…IMHO.

  10. IMHO she’s the type who would be your good friend for a long time until you find that you are crazy about her. You have great conversations, you hang out and go to parties together and stuff but the night ends with one of you driving the other home and waving goodbye as you step through the door. She seems to me like a few bottles of XX (dos equis beer)… the effects sneak up on you.

Not that I would mind ending up with a woman like her… she seems like she’s got a good grasp on how this world works and what it takes to be successful in it. She’d probably want to handle all the finances while we do all the home repairs and stuff… haha! No complaints there… just that I am not a very handy kind of guy… haha!

  11. she is very cute an boy is she ever so damn hottt w owould love just one night with her an that is not much too ask is it or maybe i just keepon dreaming

  12. It’s never too much to ask. If you want it bad enough, be a go getter and go get her. I think she’s waiting for you. 🙂

  13. She is so my type!

Saw 8 1/2 Women and it was horrible. Don’t bother. Unless father-son sex is your thing. Eeewww.

Still need to see The Soong Sisters.

Will see The Last Emperor again, as it’s been too long. Also in that is Joan Chen.

  14. Just saw The Last Emperor again after 20 years. She is lovely as #2 Wife (billed as Wu Jun Mei), especially the scene where she gets into bed with the Emperor & Empress (Joan Chen!)

Another great scene is when the Empress’ cousin (Maggie Han) who is a spy for the Japanese sucks Joan’s toes one by one! Also loved it when Joan tells Maggie “I hate you” and Maggie responds by softly kissing the back of her neck.
