Despite feeling that she doesn’t have the “model look,” 24-year-old Viet-Chinese beauty Leena Nguyen was among the top ten finalists at the 2007-2008 Miss Vietnam USA and the 2007 Miss Norcal Vietnam pageants, as well as being named Miss California Asia and Miss Talent at the 2007 Miss National Asia Pageant.Leena, whose first passion is singing, was a Viet Idol finalist in 2006 and also made the March 2007 cover of popular Viet lifestyle magazine; BN. She currently works with disabled children, a job that she finds very rewarding. She plans on going back to school later to pursue a career in dentistry rather than compete in any more pageants, which she had previously considered doing.

An admitted pool addict, she jokingly states she “spent most of her high school and college years shooting at a billiards hall” and (like Michelle Phan) is an avid video gamer, making time specifically for them every day.

And for those of you wondering if she can cook; she can and desserts are her specialty. “Name ’em, I can probably bake ’em,” she told me.

  7. BTW, I realize in that pic that she has makeup on…but, it isn’t done in the same way as it would be for a photo shoot. This looks like she was just out for a night on the town, or something.

    I really dig the glasses look, too.

    She doesn’t come across as very SoCal, to me. Makes sense, as she isn’t from SoCal, but rather Sacramento.

  13. I’ve never been impressed with Vietnamese women as compared to other Asian ethnicities. I’ll be looking forward to Dr. Lee’s post to see if he can sway my opinion though! ^_^

    That said, I would agree with Lee’s assessment – she does seem pretty average to me, but then my opinion is obviously skewed! 😛

  16. I wouldn’t say she is “average”. She is a solidly above-average girl with a great chest, but she is not stunning, and certainly is nowhere near the top of the pack when it comes to Viet girls in orange county when it comes to looks.

    I have dated cuter vietnamese girls. I’m not saying that to brag, I’m saying there are a lot of cuter vietnamese girls out there.

    Actually on that BN magazine cover, she looks hispanic, not asian.

  20. arf, she is from Sacramento, not Orange County. She is from Central California, not SoCal.

    And Robert, I know this because I read her profile…that’s all. But, if you live in California, you would know there are definite differences in the appearance of women (makeup, clothes, styles, etc) between women in SoCal and other parts of the state. Of course, not all women in SoCal are one way, and some women in Northern California opt for the SoCal style (surprisingly few, though). She doesn’t come across as SoCal, at all, in her photos.

  21. All this socal animosity is really for the birds. I grew up in Orange County and it’s a great place to live, and the amount of Asian women there is phenomenal. Any place with a healthy count of attractive Asian girls should be praised, especially on this damn site. We all can’t live in Asia. I hate it how some complain of socal Asian girls and live in a little crap hole town in the middle of nowhere, basing their knowledge of Asian women on Japanese porn. Get real.

  27. Oh yeah, Bigfoot…thanks for clarifying the fact she’s from sacramento and not orange county. That one may have went over your head. Not even exactly sure where orange county is. Gonna need a map for this one.

  30. I’m so glad the beach exists. It’s keeps the pressure on women to stay fit in order to be presentable in bikini. I’ve noticed, the farther you get away from the beach sand, the bigger the women get.

    An important rule of life is to always live close to the beach.

  31. GoodTaste, thats an interesting theory. Maybe thats the problem here, right in the middle of the US. I’ve definitely noticed that there seems to be a large number of girls who are, uh… not thin.

  38. For people who dont know Leena Nguyen. She is pretty, but she tries hard to be who she cant be. She does love working with kids. However as pageant life goes, she has only won 1 crown is that is from MISS NATIONAL ASIA 2007 for Talent. Other then that as for Miss California, that is from Miss California Asia- Natasha Guerrero. Leena is a good singer, she can sing in 3 languages. She got the cover for BN Mag. is because she used to work there and asked if she could have the cover. As for her modeling pictures, its from Tom Huynh when is one of her best buddies. He is a GREAT Photographer.
    Her chest is paid for, therefore her chest looks good. She tries really hard to be known and popular. She is a type that will flirt with you, shes a flirty type, that will flirt and try to look cute all the time. She is also a good friend that will help you out. She also had a boyfriend in the states while her boyfriend was in Korea. She is a good friend, but not a good GF or a BFF.
