North Hollywood Talent Search
(October 23, 1998)
On Friday October 23rd, Sung Hi Lee appeared in
Jet NiteClub downtown Toronto as host
of the North Hollywood Talent Search.
The Talent Search has been put together by a group of casting directors that are looking for a
girl to be the supporting actress in a major motion picture being put together by
Silhouette Media. The evening consisted of three parts: a swimsuit portion, a talent segment and a
formal evening gown section. For the final event, the 12 finalists chosen were judged on their
performances (vocal, dance, modelling or whatever). Althoug Sung Hi Lee was first asked
for judging the event and doing a signing, she was the official host of the event!

Unfortunately, the crowd was minimal - about 300 people - a good thing for the fans who were
there, but bad for her agent. The reason for this poor turnout was because the venue was originally
to be held at The Warehouse. However in the night before the event, The Warehouse staff
decided to double the rent and so the organizers had to go to another club called
Jet NiteClub.
Unfortunately, they couldn't get word out fast enough to the masses and many were left dwindling
at The Warehouse wondering what was going on.
The show was a bit corny. There were 12 contestants and one of them was a guy. It seems
that only 5 or 6 of the girls were really in the contest to win the trip to Hollywood or
whatever. The rest were friends of the promoters and were there to fill up the remaining 12
spaces. There were a couple of really nice looking women though.

Finally, a girl named Deanna won the contest. She got two tickets to Los Angeles, hotel
accommodations, a contract with a talent agent in Los Angeles and an audition for an upcoming
feature film or television series. Deanna, if you ever read this, just contact me and I will
come up with a special page to promote your model work! Not a bad offer with more than 5,000
daily visitors don't you think?

After the winner was announced, there was a autograph signing session and possible picture
session with Sung Hi. There were two 8x10 pictures you could choose from (cost $15). Sung Hi
was sitting at a table on stage and a bodyguard was there to watch everything. Dayam, I didn't
know that she was that dangereous! Anyway, one by one people went up, met her, talked to her
for a bit, all while she signed the picture. She was cool and very down to earth according to
the people who got an autographed picture of her.

Following the show there was a dance with local DJs (i.e. Kevin Williams and Peter the
Greek) providing the music although some people wouldn't be suprised if they just popped
in a tape!?

They have more than 50 pictures online (unfortunately not from the North Hollywood Talent Search).
If you were at the North Hollywood Talent Search it would be great when you can send me some
tidbits or scans of the photos you took!
Thanks briguy, LeXXuS, and HaRdYoo2 for the tidbits and the scans!
