Tara Patrick - The New Legend of Adult Video!
A few quotes from her interview on "Dr. Susan Block":
"I worked in the ER. I started out as an emergency medical technician; I started at the bottom.
I was a nurse's aide, I was a candy striper. But it allowed me to be in the hospital, and it
really influenced me. I knew I wanted to be a nurse from the time I was a young girl.
I was a model. I was discovered when I was 13 at Fisherman's Wharf. I was on the pier, and I
was with my father, and I was wearing an Ozzie t-shirt and ripped-up jeans. I was one of those
kids that was into Manic Panic - I don't know if anybody remembers that. I bleached my hair.
I was a punk kid... I don't know why a Thai/English girl would want to be blonde.
We left Montana and moved to San Francisco, and I got discovered there, and literally, I met
with the Ford Agency and they sent me to Japan, and I just had a whirlwind fashion career for
five years. And when I would come home, I would volunteer at the hospital. I knew that I was
going to be out of modeling when I was 18, and I was going to go to college, and I didn't
even ever think of pursuing a career as a model again. I always wanted to do Playboy. I've
always wanted to do nude modeling. When I was a teenager, when I was fashion modeling, I was
doing a lot of artistic black-and-white figure modeling and nudes.
My parents know what I do now. They know about the movies and the magazines, and you know,
they're not going to go out and rent Virtual Sex with Tera Patrick, but they support me. They
see how healthy I am, how happy I am, how far I've come, how much I've grown, and I have their
support. I have a very, very open-minded, accepting family.
On modeling: 'I did a lot of swimsuits and a lot of lingerie. I woke up at 13 with 36DD boobs,
and I went "Wow!"
A lot of girls, because they're beautiful, they don't have to learn things, because beauty
makes things to them. It makes them able to get work, get attention; you really don't have
to work hard when you're beautiful.
I got into modeling just to make money to go to school. I was fascinated by science. I was
fascinated by medicine, and astronomy - I didn't find fashion modeling when I was younger very
fulfilling. It wasn't stimulating. Now that I'm working in the adult business, I feel now more
proud of the work I do because it's truly me. I'm really truly happy in what I do, and I feel
a really strong emotional connection with a lot of the work I do now.
I worked long and very hard for my nursing and I'm very proud of that, and that's something that
will be a part of me for the rest of my life. When I got into the adult business, I wanted to be
an inspiration to other girls to say, "Hey, look; we can be beautiful, we can be strong, we can
be sexual, and it's okay." I really wanted to stress that.
