Viva Las Vegas!
According to the people who visited Las Vegas both CES and IA2000 were crowded but great!
CES was more oriented towards the fans while IA2000 was overwhelmingly composed of
persons wanting to do business. On this page an impression of both events.
2000 International CES (January 6-9, 2000)
CES (Consumer Electronics Show) is the world's largest annual trade show for consumer technology.
In the past years the adult section of CES slowly becomes the most popular porn trade show in the
world. The bond between the adult section of CES, which began in the early 1970s, and the
mainstream electronics show, which began in 1967, continues to strengthen as porn proves itself
a formidable market force. Surprisingly you will find nothing about the adult section on the
official websites of CES!?
Thanks to a fellow member of the Asian Sirens Club I got a bunch of quality photos of various
Asian Models and AV stars such as Angel Veil, China Doll, Cumisha Amado, Kobe Tai, Mimi Miyagi, and
Suzi Suzuki. A few of them were posted in the

IA2000 (January 9-12, 2000)
For the past several years, the IA2000 Convention has taken place immediately after CES. It was held
this year at the Venetian.
IA2000 is the worldwide gathering of the Adult internet business. It's estimated that there are now
about 60-80,000 sex-oriented Web sites. According to a new book, "Obscene Profits: The Entrepreneurs
of Pornography in the Cyber Age", the porn industry is an increasingly significant sector of the
economy, grossing at least 10 billion dollars in the US, more than is spent on sports events and
live music combined.
IA2000 is not open to the general public, and so is much less crowded. Exhibitors this year included
Wicked Interactive, Vivid, Porn City.Net, Private, Pleasure Productions, Flynt Digital, and many
others. There was a lot of skin on display, flashing, and three Japanese maidens from Geishahouse.com
dressed in schoolgirl outfits doing obscene things with a banana. Many of the porn stars, such as
Asia Carrera, Stephanie Swift and Sammantha Style stayed over from CES to push corporate or individual
web sites to the international crowd. Since the crowds were sparse, it was quite a feast if you had
your still or video camera. A nice change from the mob scene at CES. The show is run by AVN and the
fall IA2000 will be held at New Orleans.
AVN Awards
Every January The AVN Awards Show, dubbed "the Oscars of adult" by Entertainment Weekly, celebrates the finest in adult films and videos with a lavish awards show and dinner.
Hosted by the stars of the adult industry, the Awards extravaganza is packed with live music, sexy entertainment and appearances by every major star in the business. Nearly 100 awards are given out in categories as diverse as Best Film, Best Video and Best Actor to Most Outrageous Sex Scene, Best Group Sex Scene and Best Selling Tape of the Year.
