Sister Furong – Banned from web in China?

Sister Furong

Sister Furong is a young woman in Beijing who has somehow become hugely popular on the internet for posting supposedly provocatively posed photos and making somewhat silly egotistical statements about herself. The latest news to come out recently is that China intends to ban her internet presense even though she has not even come close to posing nude or written about sexual exploits like some other notorious Chinese bloggers who were banned from the internet.
Sister Furong

I first found out about Sister Furong yesterday in an article talking about her being banished from the web which I reposted in this message in my Asian Divas Yahoo Group.

Here is an excerpt:

Sister Furong started the craze by posting pictures of herself — draped back-down over a stone ball, bent at the knees with her chest thrust out suggestively and in other poses — on Internet bulletin boards of two top Beijing universities to which she had tried but failed to gain entrance.

The shots, and accompanying captions and passages she wrote proclaiming her own beauty and talent, became a campus sensation.

She has an officially sanctioned English blog but be warned that it doesn’t come up properly in Internet Explorer (looks fine in Firefox).

While doing research, I came across this amusing blog entry about Sister Furong from this guy in Malaysia. He said that Sister Furong wrote to him and asked him to print out the picture of her lying in the grass and hang it on the wall above his bed.

Another Model ID Request

unknown

While we’re on the subject of model ID requests, I’d be very interested in info on the very slender model above. I’m sure she’ll be too slim for many people’s taste, but a lot of young Asian girls are built like this, yet you almost never see them as models. I find this fact very intriguing – is it because these types of girls just don’t want to be models, or that there just isn’t (perceived to be) much of a market for them?

The above pic was taken from Slim Angels, but I’ve seen her pics in a few other places around the net – but never with a name unfortunately.

Model identified – Nao Oikawa

Nao Oikawa

Thanks Zamscan and deadmeat for identifying her! I knew she looked familiar. You were both right as I confirmed it with a quick search.I found a TGP gallery featuring Nao Oikawa with the same pics doing a search at asianthumbs.org.

Here is the link to a website featuring the white lingerie pics.

I have larger versions (1024×768) of 4 of these photos if anyone is interested. I would like to find the higher resolution scans of the others as well if possible.

Tiara Lestar (aka Amara)

[A Message For Our Indonesian Friends (in Indonesian)]

This months Dutch Penthouse magazine features 13 great photo’s of 23 year old Indonesian beauty Tiara Lestar. (All photo’s by Adam Yurman). You can find the ‘quick-and-dirty’ scans of the Tiara Penthouse-pictures (only for members) here.

Pick up a copy if you can get your hands on one. Penthouse says that in the Far East she is considered an international supermodel; the new Naomi Campbell. If this is true, why can’t I find more about her with a simple Google search? I only find that she is on the cover of the Pacific USA 2006 Wall Calendar (which odd enough is not yet mentioned on the official Pacific USA site).Tiara’s motto is ‘Shocking Asia’. She goes all the way, posing completely nude, which in some Asian countries is still not allowed. She also walks the catwalk in fashion shows. If anyone has more info on this girl, please comment.

Miss Universe 2005: the Oriental girls

Miss Universe 2005 - the Oriental girls

Although the Miss Universe election was on May 30th, 2005, I couldn’t help taking a peek at the other Asian delegates while I was doing my previous post on Miss Vietnam. So I thought it would be nice to round them up for you here on this site. You never know when the official Miss Universe site wil be renewed, and all these beautiful women won’t be there anymore. Once you are at a contestant page, a lot more (and better!) photo’s can be seen. Okay, we have Miss Vietnam: Hang Thu Pham, Miss Indonesia: Artika Sari Devi, Miss Korea: So-Young Kim, Miss Singapore: Cheryl Tay, Miss Thailand: Chananporn Rosjan, Miss Malaysia: Angela Gan, Miss China: Tao Si Yuan and Miss Japan: Yakuri Kuzuya.

Although a very beautiful woman, I did not include Miss Pilippines: Gionna Cabrera, she looked a little bit too Latina in my opinion 😉 And since she has a latin name, I figured she was not Oriental enough for this round-up. Take a look for yourself. (And if I missed any Oriental girls, please let me know!)

Sex and Politics

Sachiko McLean

I had an email exchange recently with a right wing extremist who took exception to the political opinions I express in the FAQ section of my web site. Apparently he even posted something I never actually said on several mesage boards! When I pointed out to him the fact that I never said what he accused me of, he then accused me of altering my FAQ! This is in spite of the fact that (as regular visitors to my site will know) I have not changed anything in my FAQ since we launched our site a year and a half ago!

Anyway, this poor deluded individual got me to thinking about the relationship between sex and politics. Many people say sex and politics don’t mix, but I think this is naive. Politicians (and religious leaders) have been using sexual supression to control the masses for millenia. A recent example that applies particularly to sites such as this one is 2257, which seriously restricts what American web sites can post on the net. The Bush administration’s pandering to the religious right is restricting what you can see on the internet, and it will only get worse if you don’t take action.

Anyway, that’s my opinion on this volatile issue. What’s yours?

P.S. The photo above is another shot from the same fashion session as the last pic I posted here. I thought it was appropriately ‘serious’ looking for this subject! 🙂
